Indie Candy will be providing some fun fixins for the cupcakes!  Indie Candy is a completely allergen free candy!  No wheat, no nuts, no dairy, no eggs, no treenuts, no shellfish, no soy!  We hope you can bring your kids to enjoy the yummy treats and you can socialize with other parents who are dealing with the same things you are!

Gluten Free Expo in Atlanta Recap

This past Saturday I made the trip to Atlanta to the Gluten Free Expo.  I took my 10 year old Celiac daugher for the experience.  Christine from Birmingham Kids and Family Magazine also went with us.  We had a great time!  Jennifer in GA and the Atlanta GIG did a fabulous job!  Everything was very organized, and ran smoothly, from what we could tell.  I have never been to a gluten free expo before so it was very exciting.  The best part was getting to see my daughter eat all kinds of foods without the worry.  She only had to be careful of products with oats, even gluten free, she can't tolerate well.  There were all kinds of restaurants serving pastas, pizzas, and bakeries with cakes, brownies, and cookies galore!  Seeing this just made us even more excited for our Great Gluten Free Event coming in February, 2012

We got to try and taste so many great products!  Many products we had not tried before.  This is such a great thing about these expos.  You get to try so many products before you buy them.

We were able to take home many samples to try as well.  Along with samples, there were also many coupons!  There was so much to keep us busy at the vendor fair, I didn't make it to any classes 🙁  Christine was able to make it to a cooking demo class and said it was very good and informative.   We all had a blast.  It was worth the drive over!  It looked like they had a good turn out.

Homemade Valentine’s Wreath

While we are on the topic of Valentine’s, here is a really fun, simple, inexpensive craft to make that you can do with your children.  Kelli also shares a great message with it.    If you have a minute, be sure to look around  her blog, Restore Interiors.  She is one of our sponsors here at  Gluten Free Birmingham and she is very talented!  She takes old pieces of furniture and makes them into masterpieces!  Wish I had an ounce of that talent!!
