Kind Bars and Granola Review

kind

Have you ever had Kind granola?  Oh my are you missing out if you haven't!  I don't typically buy oats and foods that contain oats because my daughter cannot eat it, even gluten free.  I do believe this has made my weekly grocery list!  My other kids can eat oats and it has been amazing to watch them ask for this for breakfast and snacks!   This granola is absolutely amazing!  Oh and we also put it on our ice cream!!

Kind Granola flavors are:

  Peanut Butter Whole Grain Clusters
Vanilla Blueberry Clusters with Flax Seeds
Cinnamon Oat Clusters with Flax Seeds
Maple Walnut Clusters with Chia & Quinoa
Dark Chocolate & Cranberry Clusters
Oats & Honey Clusters with Toasted Coconut

We got to try the Cinnamon oat clusters with flax seeds and the dark chocolate and cranberry clusters.  It was a tough decision on which was best, but we really enjoyed the cinnamon oat clusters.  We would eat it straight up in a bowl with almond milk, or my favorite, on top of greek yogurt with fresh fruit.  This makes a great snack, or meal!  I love that it is so fresh and not processed.

We also got to try what seemed like every flavor Kind makes of the granola bars!  Our favorites were:  Dark chocolate nuts and sea salt, Fruit and nuts in yogurt, Fruit and nut delight, and peanut butter dark chocolate.  There was not one that we didn't like, we just liked these the best.

Some of the things that attract me to Kind bars:

They taste amazing and make a great snack leaving you feeling satisfied

They are 100% gluten free

Non GMO (yay!)

Kosher

Low in sugar

High in fiber

High in protein (I love this for my little athletes who need a protein packed snack bar after their practices)

Kind bars are pretty much sold in any health food store, grocery stores, and online.  If your family can eat nuts, I would invite you to give Kind bars a try!  Let us know how you like them!

Disclosure:  Kind sent me a box of granola bars to try and some bags of granola in order to do a review of their product.  As always, thoughts and opinions are all my own.

A Marvelous Food Revolution! Help Needed Please!

If you were at our Gluten Free Expo Birmingham, and came by my table (Gluten Free Birmingham), you were able to try Marvelous Food Company's Marvelous Muffins!  We got such amazing feedback from these muffins.  They are moist, fresh, totally healthy for you, kid and adult friendly, and much more!

A while back, we wrote a review for thier product, you can read it here.

They are trying very hard to get their product into local stores.  In order to do so, they have to have better packaging for their product, which can be very costly.  They are trying to raise money and support for this project, would you be so kind as to help them.  You won't be sorry, that is for sure!  This is a product you would continue to buy over and over if it were in our local stores.

They still have a long way to go to reach their goal and not much longer to do it.  Let's show them our gluten free love and help them reach this goal!  Please share on your facebook walls, tweet about this project, and share with your friends!

Bonus:

For each pledge made you also get free products shipped right to your door!  The more you pledge, the more you get!

Gluten Free Cheese Crackers

So, lately I have been spending a lot of time on Pinterest. During the day I have been spending a lot of time on the phone and emails in preparation for the Gluten Free Expo, that at night, I just want to surf.  🙂  If you haven't started Pinterest, not sure whether to encourage you to or not.  It is so addicting!  These cheese crackers are some that I found on Pinterest.  The recipe is not gluten free.  So I changed the flour and voila!  Gluten Free Cheese Crackers!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups grated extra sharp cheddar cheese

4 T. unsalted butter, softened and cut into pieces

3/4 cup gluten free all purpose flour mix (I used the same flour mix that I used for the gluten free croissants)

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes

1T. milk (I added a little more, but start with this and add more if needed 1 T. at a time).

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Put everything except milk  in the food processor and pulse 5-10 seconds at a time until it becomes coarse crumbs

Add the milk and continue to process until the dough clumjps in a ball

Roll the dough out on lightly floured suface.  Try to roll into a rectangle shape (makes it easier to cut)

Cut into 1 inch squares.  I used a pizza cutter.  Then put a small hole in the center of the square with the dull end of a skewer

Place the crackers 1/4 inch apart on parchment paper on a cookie sheet

Bake for 12-15 min. until a little crispy around the edges

Let them cool and then eat them!  We had some left for the next day and they were not as crispy then, so I wouldn't recommend making to keep for a week or 2.  Just make what you would like to eat.  They really do taste like Cheez-Its!  My daughter said, "Is this really what Cheez-Its taste like?"  It has been so long since she has had one.

**note, these were a tad spicy with the crushed red pepper flakes.  If you wanted to use a little less, or just some red pepper instead, it may not be as spicy.

If you try them, let me know what you think!

Nutella Anyone?

Who else loves Nutella?  We can totally clean out a container of Nutella.   It is not labeled gluten free, but there are no gluten ingredients.  We have safely waxed off about 5 containers of this in the last 4 weeks.  I wish I never tasted this product!  It is so crazy delicious!  EB loves it!  She makes Nutella sandwiches on gluten free bread, eats it with crackers, bananas, apples, off the spoon, on waffles.

Yes, I did let my daughter eat Nutella on her waffle for breakfast :).  I don't see much difference in eating this or eating a donut!  She loves it and I don't let her eat this every day.  Just for a special treat sometimes!  So tell me, how do you eat Nutella?
