Something New for Us- Essential Oils

essential oils

So, I have jumped on the Essential Oil wagon and I am in love!  I have several friends who were using essential oils and I became curious….then I started asking questions.  I was invited to join a group on facebook as a discussion group where people were sharing their testimonies,  thoughts and many uses of essential oils.  I hung out in the lounge for about 4-5 weeks learning of all the differerent ways essential oils could be used in place of everyday medications we may use.

Did I say…I am in love?  We don't use a whole lot of medications anyways, but we do use them occasionally and I am thrilled that there is an alternative to using them.  I took the plunge and bought a kit.  It has 10 different essential oils plus stress away roll on.    We have been using them for about a year now.

This is how we personally have been using Young Living theraputic grade essential oils:

Lemon:  I put a drop in my water daily, my husband puts in a capsule with lavendar and peppermint for allergies, a couple drops in my cookie batter to make lemon cookies.

Peppermint:  A drop in water to help with reflux, diffusing, in a capsule with the lavender and lemon for allergies, inhaling for headaches, and just this week I used it to remove a tick from my daughter's head.

Frankincense:  We are in the process of using for wart removal and it is working!  We also use for headaches

Lavender: oh lavender!  My favorite!  We use for sleep, diffusing, for allergies, for rashes, calming, on fabrics for freshening, and the list goes on and on!  So so many uses for lavender!

Purification:  Another favorite.  We use this one to keep the bugs away!  We also use for bug bites if we do get them.  Works wonders!

Valor:  we are using valor and panaway for muscle soreness.  I have a gymnast and a soccer player that come home from practice and need this combo!

Panaway:  We use for muscle soreness

Peace and Calming:  My kids like this for bedtime.  It helps them rest well.

Thieves:  Last but definatly not least….actually another one of my favorites!   We are currently out of it right now but the next bottle is on the way!  We use this one for mouth ulcers, tooth ache and pain (my 12 year old is cutting teeth), diffusing, and I just gave my bottle to a friend to rub on her toe because she has an infection.

These are just a few ways that we have personally used the everyday kit.  There is actually a pamphlet we have that gives you 110 different ways to use these everyday oils from the kit.

I would love to hear from you if you are using essential oils for your family…what are your favorites?  If you have used any of these I have listed, how is your family using them?  I am trying to soak it all in!  I love hearing all the testimonies of people coming off their medications!

You can get started with your own oils here!

Hi, interesting post.  I was wondering if you had happend to come across any information about what oils might help with a head cold/bronchitis type of issue.  I was hoping to find something similar to vic's vapor.  Wasn't sure if Eucalyptus would be the best, that was just a guess.  If you have any thoughts about that, would be interested to hear!  Thanks!
